Executive Director (CarVal) 

Michael Phillip is a director for CarVal Investors, responsible for managing Corporate Securities investments in Asia. Prior to joining CarVal in 2013, Michael was a director in the Strategic Investment Group at Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong. He was also previously an Executive Director in Distressed Trading at Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong and Head of Capital Markets Research at Westpac in Sydney. Michael received his MBA from the University of California at Berkeley and his Bachelor of Engineering in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney, graduating with honours.

Director, General Manager & Plant and Asset Manager

Craig Harding has 18 years experience working in large tier 1 companies including a career spanning Rio
Tinto, Veolia and Boral. He recently led the operational team for processing at Rio Tinto’s Remote Operations
Centre, and also as a Senior Analyst with Asset Management within the Rio Tinto Technology and Innovation
Business Unit.


Executive Management
John Silverthorne has over 40 years of experience in the earthmoving and resources industries and has managed a variety of small and large projects in both the public and private sectors which includes 28 years of experience in the civil contracting and mining services industries. John was a founding partner at NRW Holdings Limited (NRW). John was also an integral part in establishing two very successful Aboriginal Joint Ventures with the major mining companies in the Pilbara.

General Manager Mining and Civil
Pat Pearcey has over 18 years experience in the Civil and Mining Industry with a Bachelor of Engineering
(Civil - Honours). Prior to joining VCS, Pat held positions as Construction Manager – Queensland and Project
Manager – Western Australia for NRW. His role included managing a diverse range of civil and construction
projects throughout Queensland and the Pilbara. As General Manager of Mining, Civil and Crushing, Pat
provides the VCS team with essential knowledge and leadership.

CFO and Company Secretary
Damian Wright is a financial and corporate executive with broad experience in all aspects of accounting
and corporate governance functions. Damian is currently CFO and Company Secretary for Viento and
its subsidiaries and has extensive experience in statutory reporting, financial analysis, budgeting and
forecasting. Damian has worked in the accounting industry since 1995 and has been a CPA since 1999.
He was recognised as a Fellow of CPA Australia in 2015. He completed a Graduate Diploma in Applied
Corporate Governance and became a Chartered Secretary in 2010.
